If you’re anything like me, you’re always on the lookout for new and exciting ways to bond with your dog. Luckily, living in South Florida means we have access to a wide variety of dog-friendly activities. Let’s leash up and explore some adventures together.
Beach Day:
Living in South Florida means we have beautiful beaches practically in our backyard. Many of these local beaches welcome our dogs with open arms (or should I say paws?). Places like Jupiter Beach, Hobie Beach in Miami, and Fort Lauderdale Beach allow dogs to play in the surf and soak up the sun with their humans. Just be sure to bring plenty of water for both you and your dog!
Parks:
When it comes to parks, South Florida doesn’t disappoint. Whether your dog prefers to run around off-leash or take a walk on a leash, there’s something for everyone. Many local parks have playgrounds your dog can explore, benches to work on confidence and shady trails. Oleta River State Park in North Miami Beach boasts miles of great hiking trails where you and your pup can explore nature together. Wolf Lake park and Robbins park in Davie are beautiful and you might even see some horses pass you on the trails. Don’t forget to bring along some treats and water for a snack break!
Yappy Hour:
Who says happy hour is just for humans? In South Florida, many restaurants and cafes roll out the red carpet for our dogs during designated “Yappy Hours.” These pet-friendly locations offer everything from water bowls to doggie treats, ensuring that our dogs feel just as welcome as we do. Fort Lauderdale, Atlantic Ave in Delray and Palm beach always have great options. Why not treat your pup to a special outing where you can both enjoy a meal or drink together?
Boat Days:
Do you have a boat and love getting out on the water? There are also many options for dog friendly boat rentals, kayaks and even paddle boards to get out on the water together. You’ll never regret bringing your dog with you. You can just go for a ride or stop at one of our sand bars and dog friendly areas. Haulover in Miami and Peanut Island in Palm Beach are two of my favorites where you will always see lots of dogs running around enjoying some fun in the sun.
With so many dog-friendly activities to choose from, there’s no shortage of fun to be had with your dog in South Florida. Whether you’re hitting the beach, exploring a park, or enjoying a meal together, these adventures are sure to strengthen the bond between you and your dog. Grab that leash, pack some treats, and get ready for some Florida fun!
